Hi there. I'm a first timer but not an old. We (4) hope to got fishing next easter up H/brook. We hope to hire a houseboat for 7 days.
What would the season be like at that time?? What sort of fish will be on the chew??
Is ther tinnies that we can hire at cardwell, like a 4.5 with a 50/60 on the back??? We get a tender with the h/b but we would like something that could take us all.
We went to Weipa last easter for 10 days and had a ball. Had a houseboat there with a tinnie with a 60hp but it didn't get up and plane with us in it. The only problem we had.
If anyone wants some info on weipa, drop me a line.
What would be the best way to get from Townsville to Cardwell with all our gear??. We will be flying from the gold coast.
If u can help in any way it would be great
Cheers
Mexy
Easter as in 8 weeks from now or Easter as in 2006?. If you mean 8 weeks from now then if you haven't got a booking you may have left it too late
Easter this year is pretty early so there's a risk of there being a fair amount of water still about from the rains. There are some hire boats about; here's a phone number: U-Drive Hire Boats Phone 074066 8054. I don't know what they've got though. Meteor Hire in Townsville has some Polycrafts for hire but I'm not sure if they let them up to Hinchinbrook. There's several ways to get from Tsv to Cardwell, Bus, Hire car etc etc. Don't forget there's also excellent houseboats at Lucinda , in fact last time I looked they were cheaper than Cardwell and better quality. That was in July last year. Send me a private message if you want and I can give you a few other ideas.
