    yabbies and private land ???

    there is a creek before the boat ramp at Cabbage Tree Pt and I pump yabbies there all the time and this joker comes up to me and said can't u read the signs private land get of it it's mine ??? i was like what it's water? it's owned by the goverment ????
    am i right? or am i wrong ? please tell me i don't have to find another place to pump yabbies

    As long as you can access this creek without trespasing you should be right,the person has no legal claim to the riparian zone(normaly 1 chain/22 yards from high water mark).

    I believe Banshee is right .I had a simmilar problem with camping on the bank of a local creek when i lived at Bushland Beach(Townsville).Fisheries Patrol told me they can't do a thing if i am within 1 chain from the high water mark

    G'day,
    It's not my land, but living nearby i know that it is a drainage creek from the lake that the fella allowed (for money?) to run through his land. unfortunately it is private property. He has had a lot of idiots leaving rubbish or being peanuts so he has now fenced off access and put up signs. Once again a few idiots have ruined it for all.
