How unlucky is naming the boat?

When the new rig is ready I gotta name it. Now I quite like the name Fishinmishin, especially cause it didn't get a real long run on the last boat and so chances are the name will carry on. How unlucky is it, even though the engine is coming from the original? I don't like Fishinmishin 2 and cant think or a replacement name. Advice please?
    Cheers, Jay

Not unluckly if you go through the re-naming ceremony Jay. I did it with mine, I just couldn't drive around in 'Pea-Pod' and feel like a fisherman See here... http://www.boatnames.com.au/ceremoniesandnames.html

Actually, just to add to that, since re-naming it I've had to make a $1300 repair to the leg of the merc, had fuel-line troubles and my mate has rolled the boat/trailer on its side at an intersection in the wet (lost the arse-end of the 4x4)... call it bad luck, call it fate... now that I think about it, maybe I should've stuck with 'Pea Pod'

    Jay,
It should be fine as long as you don't take any sea dragons or women aboard

It is supposed to be very unlucky to rename a boat, although that superstition could just belong to yachts. I don't think it's unlucky to simply name it.

If you're not superstitious don't worry.

Its not unlucky to rename the boat the same as the old, as long as you run backwards around the boat three times chanting I am not afraid of sea monsters. This ceremony however must be carried out at an Ausfish M&G in front of the members to witness.
