    Boat Accident

Was out cleaning my boat on Monday night at about 8 o'clock, when i decided to turn the VHF on, (channel 16)

A message was being relayed back to the coast guard, a distress call was placed, a boat had collided with a whale and was sinking fast, he was situated about 15 miles east of Byron.I'm not very clear on the whole story, cause I didn't hear all of it. I think an army vessel was in the area and was going to have look, I think the NSW police were contacted. Not 100% sure on the whole story, does anybody know?

Does anybody know what happened, is the guy alright, or was this a stupid prank.

Could turn out to be an expensive prank if it is.

    Re: Boat Accident

I havn't heard anything via the police down here, that doesn't mean anything though.

Everyone has to respond to a pan pan or sos, I had to respond once, up at Bustard and it was for real, those guys were a product of their bad boat building skills.

Unfortunately, some people get a kick out of sending bogus distress calls... there are a lot of bone heads out there.
