There is another scam email that has hit the newcastle area this week for online banking. the report states

    thank you
The emails arrive under the the corporate logos of the west-pac or ANZ and they have been trying to obtain details from commonwealth bank customers with a email 'Netbank notification" demanding that customers confirm their account details. the false message reads. recently there have been a large number of identity theft attempts targeting commonwealth bank customers. in order to safeguard your account we require that you comfirm your banking details. this process is mandatory. this began circulating yesterday.Police beleive that dozens of hunter residents have lost thousands of dollars to the on line scam.
The Fraud squad said the practice is known as "phishing" is thought to be the work of a single syndicate in America.
I just wanted to share this information to warne all members to watch out.It may have started in newcastle to my knowledge but who knows anyone of us might receive a unwanted email ..

Those phishing emails have been around for ages...very easy to pick them...click on one the buttons on the page..nothing happens..they have copied the banks webpage but only one link works...the one where they want your details...don't ever fill it in. I usually grab the email address it came from..then register with porn sites and any other site I can think of using that email address...will send a few spam emails their way by doing that.
