Scam targeting Ausfish members

You will probably find that it is not targeting Ausfish Members but anyone with an E-mail address.

The scam usually works that the domain name matches the E-mail address. So if your E-mail address is at AOL the link would show as
http://www.aol.com/confirm.php?email=nugget@aol.com

But that link actually is hyperlinked to another website, not the one displayed.

So don't open the E-mail or click on the link if you have opened the E-mail.

The strange thing is ??? ??? My addy is shown in the path and I only use this addy on Ausfish. How did they get hold of it ???

I appreciate that and that is what I am trying to get at. I only use kingtin at this site. I am displaying it now because it has obviously now been harvested and already I am starting to receive spam, which I never have before.....but how ??? It has never been displayed before. I use "dead drop" addies when I post to newsgroups and my addy is hidden in my profile.

Perhaps I cocked up and sent a post somewhere with this addy, but I doubt it. I'll have to google myself to see.

Yep I got one and now keep getting emails from all sorts. Just make sure your anti-virus program is current and working. Dont open them and you can even send infected files to your anti-virus provider so they can work on reducing future threats.

I get at least 10 a day. Never open anything that you don't know and close all pop ups at all times..., even if it promises they can make certain parts of your body grow bigger... hehheee

My email address is also on another fishing site that I advertised some gear on. I am 100% certain thats where they got it. Fishnet.com is the name of it and its been nothing but trouble since I went on it. This is what they write " I would like to buy gear you have for sale in Marine section, please send me your bank and personal details for prompt payment." I have found if you block senders of scammy type emails they just use another address to keep sending them.

I had the same problem with that other site. Don,t use it anymore. Send a reply to the email stating.

"We have received your email and logged your IP address. All of this information has been sent to the relative authorities for investigation into fraudulent activity."

A mate that works in IT told me this and it worked. The emails stop almost straight away.

I have had exactly the same email twice, supposedly from Ozemail.
Spam, we used to eat it years ago.

I love my email, everyone is always so helpful in offering their services.

I can now "get it up again"

I get all these adult sites links given to me, all they needed was my credit card numbers. (but they wont actually charge me )

I have the cheapest insurance premiums on my house, boat and car, organised by this wonderful guy in the cayman islands.

I even have this new nigerian business partner tracking down a long lost inheritance for me

damn, what would we do without it

I get a lot less of these great emails on my ausfish account than my hotmail account. ???

I have had 11 emails supposedly from Bigpond ,containing a attachment that contains a virus.
I checked with Bigpond Technical Support and they said to delete the emails ,and also delete them from Deleted Items/emails.
They also said that Bigpond NEVER send attachments.
