yep was that sort of day, noone to blame but themselves.
Stayed in bed this morning due to the rising swell, had a mate go out though. Had to wait at the bar until the change of the tide. But did see some boat try to run the bar & get cleaned up. 3 POB swam to safety of the training walls & then clambered up the sides while getting smashed by the swell.
Anyone we know ???

Did another boat go over on the south passage on the weekend ???
Yeah Mate, Some people just don't do there homework ???.
Especially the Tweed Bar
Early Morning run out tide Plus a 1.7 Mt (and that dosen't take into account the Sets) rising Swell ,Its a big call takin that on. A recipe for disaster
sounds like skipper error... bummer of a mornin for them. Could look at it this way, we now have another skipper with a lot more experience..
Sportfish 5
a boat with four on went over in the south passage, what i could make out it was at the northern end
all were pulled out of the water OK
geoff
You can't take the Tweed Bar for granted, I never have. There is a big difference between the back tide and the making tide, not a good place to get dusted.
GO THE CRUISER UTES!
....OH WHAT A FEELING!

I tried to warn people. Low tides in the morning with peak traffic and a monster swell starting to brew. It was never going to be a walk in the park. Is the swell bigger down there today?
Yep well i was one of those silly bastards that tackeled the south bar , and i wont be doing it again lesson learned.
Once out we had a good day with few other ( silly ) fisho's out there, we got held up wrestling a shark off the point about 1pm then downed a life vests for the obvious conclusion, we could not get back through the 2.5mtr breakers!
Lucky we had extra fuel but concerns still of going all the way around Cape moreton, notified coast guard of our new route they advised that this was a wise choice.
Lesson Learned .
