    Darwin to Gold Coast

Haveing a missus in the military means moves, and today she received a piece of paper saying that as of mid Jan 06 she is to be at sunny Canungra, will probably be liveing in Nerang, so it is now time for me to start looking for fishing partners (will only fish mon-fri) and areas to fish, have lived in Brissy on and off over last 20 years while with the military, last in 99/2000 so have a fair idea what to expect but things change, love all forms of fishing, but not very keen on bait. Have a 4.8m plate barra boat with newly fitted (last week) bow mount that is suited to the eastries and on good days a little bit of offshore as well. Hope to catch up with some of the people on this site for a fish while I am down there.
    Cheers Ian

Ian live just outside of sunny Canungra myself. Great little town. Keep in touch when it gets closer. I fish mainly offshore in a Haines 17L. Mate the GT, , was it at the ramp at the power house at Palmerston, used to live in Darwin and have got a few like that there at the hot water outlet.

    Ian,
Are those things edible at that size or do they loose flavour when they get that big.
I think Darwins fishing is not a challenge compared to here where you have to work for a fish like that.

The GT was caught at Larrakeyah Barracks rock wall, and I dont know how eatable they are as I release all trevors, but I would say you would be right in saying that they lose flavour as they get bigger. Brett, am right into jigging both metals and my favorite, plastics (have a look at snapback action in salt water photos)and being able to fish at the drop of a hat (if I have the money for my share of trip available of course), except weekends (missus time) so any offers of off shore trips will be greatfully accepted.

Ian for sure will have to orginize something. Plenty of options down here just have to take (usually) a little downsize in fish size/species thats all. But still heaps of fun. Really miss the fishing in the territory IMO nothing can compare. HAve some top memorys as a kid fishing with my old man in the Daly, Roper, Alligator Rivers, Billabongs etc and some top photos of some bloody awesome fish. Now just mainly do offshore both here off the Goldie and also the Sunny Coast. Will keep in touch.
