    Sonic Berley ????

The sensory receptions of fish are around the lateral lines which pick up vibrations.
And as we all no a hooked live bait sending out distress or panic vibrations is more likely to get nailed then a dead bait, the same goes for some of the rattle type lures used to attrack fish.
Squire in the bay seem to emit the loud vibrations as they seem to be the ones always nailed by sharks after you've tried your hardest to find and hook one.
Dont Laugh, But what if (and the imignation might be running wild here) you could some how record these distress signals and instead of berley drop a device over the side emiting these distress vibrations.
Imagine if you could simulate the sound of a school or a few hardiheads/herring/slimies etc in panic mode.
So do you think its possible (or am i dreaming) to pick up these vibrations, and if so how to go about it.
And no im not full of black cans.
    regards

I have heard of Tuna boats using hose sprays to make sounds to keep the fish in close along with live fish burley.

Brian, when the Atlantic Cod were running back in the UK I used to use a weight on my terminal tackle made from a film canister filled with lead shot. I would cast uptide and let the bait roll back to the stern and more often than not it would be nailed before it came to rest. This would outfish anyone else on the boat.

I also used to use flounder spoons in this way as opposed to the conventional slow retrieve. Don't know if flounder spoons are used here but that's simply what they are......a spoon shaped (baited) lure that vibrates as water passes over the concave/convex surface.

    cheers
