You no not have to have aguide to visit St Helena. But there is a tour that operates and is very good for about $17/head. They take you round the old settlement etc. There is even a night time " Ghost " tour.

There is a beach on Mud Island, but you would n't want to sit on it, the sandies and mozzie will caryy you away.

There is a small beach on Green island.

Bu, Horseshoe Bay on Peel is far more popular. Summertime with a SE/NE wind forecast is ideal. Take the family, sunday paper and a beer.

Then after lunch pop over to Dunwich on Straddie for an ice-cream at the main ramp/ jetty. Or into the One Mile for a counter lunch.

There is ample ' touring to be done in the southern bay. As opoposed to the nth, not there is anything wrong with the nth bay. just a long way between islands.
