does anyone know the law on fishing in marinas? i was having some success on the bream living in raby bay harbour by fishing towards the boats and jetties from the rock walls until i was told to get out by a woman from the harbour management. she told me the land was private and that the company she worked for had built the rock wall i was standing on which sounded a little dubious to me. i put up a bit of an argument and she suggested that if i was to fall and hurt myself i would immediately sue them!
i was casting to an empty mooring at the time and would have understood if i was casting at a yacht or casting from a mooring but i would have thought the rock wall was public land like everywhere else in the canals. not knowing the law i eventually left and haven't been back but as i have no access to a boat i have lost one of my best spots. this was brought up in the abt anglers guide but it was pretty vague so if anyone could shed some light it would be great.
most marinas are fish santuarys and as such no fishing zone
but at the end of the day it is up to the marina them selfs if they want it that way or not
