    Re: Hong Kong

    Sorry Joe

I have nothing for you, I am in Taiwan at the moment, maybe if you come here I can find something for you

Over here they have heaps of "fishing farms" I guess you would call them. They look like a big swimming pool with chairs aroung it so you can go fishing. I have seen some people fishing in the rivers around Taipei but the water doesn't look so good and I would not like to guess at what they are eating with the fish,ie heavy metals and stuff like that, the polution here is a little HEAVIER than back home in Newcastle NSW ???

Anyway, back to what I was saying, sorry I couldn't help you Joe, goodluck

    Re: Hong Kong

    Thanks all for your feedback,

I went into the city today to Po Kee shop and grabbed some lures as they seemed to be the cheapest (Large US made trolling lures for $20 Aus)

I took along the MO catalouge to compare prices and found that prices are pretty competitive in the recent catalouge.

I will be in Wan Chai tomorrow to check out the Trident fishing shop in ship street it has two floors of gear.

I will let readers know re the fishing tackle scene in Hong Kong as soon as I have compared all the shops

    Regards

    Joe

    Re: Hong Kong

That Trident shop has a fair bit of jigs, some rods and reels, generally not very impressive.

The Pokee shop on Hiller Street is probably the best in the city, maybe 20m away toward MTR there is another small shop as well.

There is also a shop just outside the Tsuen Wan MTR station (line from the island to NT).

    Hey Joe,
I also hear a good spot to go to is 'up bum hole', hows that that for hong kong language, Hey Mark tells me you have a wealthy mate over there that owns his own business and he has Ferraris and Porches's etc and he has given you one of his drivers for the day to visit tackle shops,
geez, must be a hard life over there for him and you at the mo eh.

    Cheers..

    Re: Hong Kong

Outsideskip's onto it. Sham Shi Po, exit A2, turn right and up the street, on your left will be a couple of stalls. Hooks are best value, some odd ball lures of interest and bait jigs and that kind of stuff. Plus some good used shimano reels. I've bought calis, trinadad's, TLD 25, torium, bait runners and calcutta's. Check them thoroughly as they're about a 50/50 mix of duds to good ones. Pay about 10 to 15 percent of what you pay for new in Oz. I suspect they're warranty jobs that have made their way out the back door.
