the stanley river up at peachester....flickin halco combats in the jungle 4 yellas...love that! gets frustating watchin em follow ya lure for hours on end before ya hook up!...but worth it i reckon....

from a nostalgic point of view .mine would have to be the nt pre cyclone tracy days ..we had so many good hard to get at spots down the daly river .mary river .hardys .dreaming lagoon .south and east alligators .adelaide river ...the list could go on and on ..but tracy stuffed more than darwin she stuffed the fishing too ..i should probably say people did ....the massive workforce who helped rebuild the town bought many unscrupulous peope in who thought nothing of following you at a distance to find your spot (which in most cases was on private land where we had approval to use )then going back there and netting and using explosives etc on the rivers and billabongs then shooting the buffs which in most cases back then were domesticated for the european meat market ...i was lucky however where i lived at nightcliff ( over the road from the beach) was the best spot for the saltwater barra ..on day when i can locate my photos i will post them to show what i mean about these places ...enough of my ramblings any spot you can catch a feed is a good one

Head to Weipa........Get on the Mission River bridge........Where the first pylon hits the water, head about 200 metres upstream on the first of the runout tide.........The spot is about 50 metres offshore (just too far for NORMAL casters to reach)..........Best was 8 X 4kg Grunter in about 25 minutes by myself (filleting took longer )..........Best indicator for great fishing at that spot???.......Water Temp.

Or was it the 6 X 40lb+ Black Jew from under the bridge on a neap tide?????

I would have to say I have fallen in love with 1770,great place and excellent fishing,only been there twice and had a ball both times,probably the company at the time helped but Mud Island catching bream in the middle of winter freezing your nuts off pulling 40cm+ bream from the snags is also a treat,dont forget the nip of port after every fish landed.

Any where around The pin.Love exploring the area and can always come up with something new.Fishing there is good on a week day when you can find time off work as it seems to be more productive with less traffic around.Dont bother fishing around school holidays (christmas).Too much noise.

Mud is also a favorite.

severn river, nthn nsw. that's where i grew up, so the nostalgia is high. was happy as a young bloke to walk up and down the gorge all day in 40 degs to catch one (or none) cod. beautiful place. a dam and carp have harmed the fishing no end, but restocking is helping now.

fraser for me to alot of variety and quantity and quality just like bromndog said and i've even got a big red there i got it while rock fishing.....it was on my back the sun gave it to me thanks sun for the big red burn

Anywhere there's vermin

My biggest thrill was the first trip to Cape Moreton. Fished right under the cape and could actually see the squire taking the bait. The look on the little fellers face made it *so* special.

Still in awe of the Pin though. Been broken so many times there, even on 70lb braid and I think it is only a matter of time before I find out just what *can* be caught there. Up the mangroves where nobody else can go, in the little 10 footer we take with us is something else. Always a good feed of crab and bait never a problem.

For sheer surprise though it has to be Woodgate beach. All the "grey brigade" bathing there whilst I'm pulling out 3 metre whalers from the beach and the old folk don't bat an eyelid and carry on swimming The sharks there are so thick on the ground it's hard not to score and I had some seering runs and break-offs that were just too fast to be sharks. Must go back there some day.
