Well said Shane and feel for your loss..Like the others have said, i'm sure he not only would be proud to hear those words but IS PROUD!!..
Cheers mate..
I dont usually associate any of family business with the internet but i thought it was relevant to mention the passing of my grandfather today as his love of fishing was as strong today from the day he was introduced to it. He lived in brissy most of his life till retirement and then moved to bribie island as he loved fishn as much as me. He taught me the ropes of fishing when i was at the age of 5 yrs and i remember the days we used to catch nannygai around whitepatch in the bribie passage till all the estates started to go ahead quite a while ago now. Through his yrs he worked on numerous boats he always seemed to mention JONNY HALLET im sure hes still operating outta gladstone area as he thought he was the best skipper he had worked with! He always had a special story to tell me of all his fishing journeys up and down the east coast of Austalia and he made special mention of the pile light that he used to work on in Moreton bay and the snapper he used to catch off it. Until oneday a ship ran into it and took it down!
I fished with him 24/7 when i was still at school, i used to spend every school holiday up at bribie fishn and crabbn. He used to wake me up at the crack of dawn so we could be home in time for lunch. The winter whiting we used to catch by the hundreds, he even came up with the idea of how to scale em instead of us doing it.
I could never say a bad word about him, he gave me the best thing i could ever imagine and thats the love of fishing! Ive met people i would never have met just through fishing and i thank him for that! One thing i can take out of all of this is that i fish out of his boat every spare second i have up here in Cairns and i feel as though he ll be there with me everytime i hit the water as he gave me the love for the number one sport in life!
If anyone has a bad word to say about this post please save it for somewhere else!
I thank him for giving me the opportunity to live the life as a fisherman!

Shane,
I know exactly where you are comming from. My grandfather was a fisherman as well & even though I was only 3yo at his passing I have several photos of him & myself fishing. Infact I still use his rod today.
I saw the smile & proudness in your facial expressions that day I spent with you out on the reef, when talking about your boat & that it was your grandfathers.
It's a given mate, we understand the bit about feeling him with you, I think we all have that feeling at one point or another while out on the water at those special moments
Having met you & as the others have said. Your Grandfather would be proud.
Condolances to you and your family Shane.Mate that tribute to your grandfather will have him feeling" proud as"He is probably smiling at you as i write this
Don't think anyone would be game to say anything bad about this post. They would probbably cop a snot on the nose if they did.
