I need to know what Ausfishers use as the main ports for calculating tides.
In SE Qld most people go by the Brisbane Bar or Southport Seaway tide times.
Is the Tweed Time used or do people in that area refer to the Seaway times?
I think Mooloolaba is used on the Sunshine Coast?
Dave, I use Brisbane bar times when fishing in the skinny part of the sandy straits, Its about the same. Here on the sunshine coast local tides for most estuaries are calculated off Mooloolaba and published in the local paper.
I'm aware of the BOM tidal ports.
Maybe I didn't make it clear enough.
I'm looking for the main ports AUSFISH members use.
In the next week or so I'll be releasing my new wesite with online software that allows you to select a day on a calendar and a port and get tides, tidal flow percentage and height, moon times and phase, sun rise and set times, solunar peaks etc. - 12 months in advance.
Initially I will only have 4 ports - I want to make sure they are the most use to Ausfish members.
Brisbane Bar will be there, Mooloolaba as well - I need two others.
Thanks elprez - that's the sort of info I was after.

THIS IS A SAMPLE OF THE GRAPH THE SOFTWARE CREATES
Looking forward to the new website Dave, I bought a solunar peaks calculator when you dismantled the old one you had, but it would be good to have a "one source" for tides, solunar peaks et al.....
On another note.......looking for a thread from you about the short list of boats you are considering......say the final 4??????
Ok I'll lock in Brisbane Bar, Southport Seaway, Mooloolaba - need one more - Burnett Heads?
I'm avoiding Tweed becasue of the daylight saving time issue.
One more port north of Mooloolaba that is the most used.
Don't suggest Wivenhoe like some idiot did!
I will have a page showing the variations for lots of specific locations.
fish2eat - Ok - I have narrowed it down to less than 4 but not made a desicion yet.
Looking at motor choices at the moment.
I'll post something soon.
For those that don't understand the graph - here's some detail:
X & Y Axis
The width of the graph is 24 hours, divided up along the bottom line by one hour incruments. The left and right sides of the graph are darkened to represent before daylight and after dark.
The lighter colour is daylight hours.
The height of the graph is 0 - 3 metres with .5 metres incruments marked.
Tides:
The graph displays the tides in a sine wave - the highest point is the top of the tide and the lowest point is the bottom of the tide.
The percentage marked half way through each tide is the percentage of tidal flow. The year's biggest tidal variation is 100% and the year's smallest variation is 0%.
Moon:
The moon rise and set times are marked across the bottom of the graph - The moon image is representative of the current phase.
Sun:
The sun rise and set times are marked inside the sun graphic at the top of the graph.
Solunar Peak:
The position of the red vertical column along the base line indicates the time of the solunar peak, the hight of the column is a percentage indication of how good the fishing will be.
Print:
Click on the printer image in the top right corner to print the graph.
For up this way, Urangan is the most widely used for the Hervey bay area, with it being a relitively easy conversion for burnett heads etc. however, the other one worth considering is Waddy Point, as anyone who goes up to fraser needs to use this 4 thier beachdriving and surf fishing.
