Scotty, my room mates parents manage the Caravan Park there so I've been considering a trip there for a little while. From what I can gather, the place offers the whole range, creek, beach, rock and offshore. For offshore, you have the option of beach launching or heading a few klm south (maybe 10km) to Sandon where the Sandon River gives ocean access (and obviously a fishing option in itself). The other creek option is in Brooms Head itself, but I'm unsure of its depth and/or ramp facillities - as in, I don't think there is one This is all the info I have gathered from my mates fairly limited fishing experiences - so don't quote me on any of the above.
I'd be interested in hearing your boating/fishing perspective on the area when you get back because it's definitly on my 'to-do list' this year.

There is no river or creek as such at Brooms Head itself. You could possibly launch your tinnie off the beach if the seas are calm. The main beach area is protected by a bar of rocks that runs northwards from the headland creating a quiet beach and a shallow lagoon behind it. As mentioned ealier, the Sandon River would be your best option. Here are a couple of quotes from earlier postings about the Sandon
This one by Mattooty on 29-9-05

Brooms has a small coastal town and plenty of beaches. Little general shop and good fishing from beaches and off rocks.

Sandon-......most awesome camping area ever though no shops around so everything is byo. Pristine waters, plenty of lizards, whihting and jacks in the river as the water warms up. Around plover island there is most fishing options from spinning for pelagics to drifing crabs for groper to bream and tailor.
Some good jew are taken from up the beach a bit in the deeper gutters.

This one by Jitlands on the same day
Sandon River is the standout with access over a reasonable bar to good close reefs, beach fishing, lizards up the river and good spinning platforms on Plover island.

Its 10 min back to Brooms Head general store and a bowls club that has icy cold beer and a good feed

Worth noting that whilst the actual bar negotiation is ok the river between the ramp and the bar is very shallow and will have less than half a metre of water in spots at dead low.

Your other option would be to fish the Clarence but this would require a drive of more than 20k to Maclean and then some. I'd be fishing the lower reaches, from Harwood to the river mouth at this time of year, but I don't think you'd catch anything that you couldn't find in the Sandon.

    Hi scotty.
boat ramp into river at Sandon camping area 10 k's from Broomes Head, via potholey gravel road caution some bends take slowly as vision around next corner obscurred.
didn't see a boat ramp in Broomes, but then, i cant walk to well, yet.
lures can work in the sandon river but i prefer chicken breast and mullet guts as bait on which we caught our fish. we didn't have a boat this time so our spots were limited.
other posts to check in Ausfish are "Sandon River" and i believe there is one called " Fihing Broomes Head" and I think you have to go back a lot of posts to find that one via search engine. Google gives one on Broomes head as well plus a reference back to Ausfish.
the tinnie is ok in the sandon as that is what we had on a previous trip.
    all the best Peter

Fished there a while back. Lake Aragon was great. Lots of flathead, whiting and heaps of prawns. Lots of people crabbing there, but the crabs all seemed a bit small until I realised that the NSW size limits are lower than in QLD.

took too long to get into the site map on this computer. still reckon plenty of water for fishing , going by the number of boats in the caravan and camping area that went out each day. our rented house was opposite the c/park on ocean road B/Head.
have a great time and take plenty of sandfly bite cream as they are around but not as bad as Hinchinbrook area in Qld.
    all the best peter
