PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant VBA_SCRIPT - assumed 'VBA_SCRIPT' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in ..../includes/functions_navigation.php(802) : eval()'d code on line 1 Looking for Bazil Noonan
I am at the end of a long search for an old mate of my husbands. Bazil was a shark netter down the Gold Coast 30 years ago. We left the area and lost all contact with this person. I have tried the Internet, White and Yellow pages and sent emails to all relevant clubs that could possibly know his whereabouts. All have either not known where he is now or have not heard of him. He is a stocky man with black hair and a full beard(his hair would be grey now)
Does anyone know where he is now? Can anyone help me locate him? Ausfish is my last and only hope.
The last I heard was that he lives on some remote island either in North Queensland or Northern Territory.
So if you know someone up there could you just mention his name to them and you never know, we may get lucky.
Please help me? [smiley=help.gif] [smiley=help.gif] [smiley=help.gif] [smiley=help.gif] [smiley=help.gif] [smiley=help.gif]
Basil and Susan Noonan were managers of the Seven Spirit Bay Wilderness Resort in 92/93 when it was owned by the Fairfax Group. I was empolyed as a Bushwalking Guide
He did have a brother who owned/managed a BP Service Station in Ashgrove as well.
I just posted a reply but its disappeared.
Re Basil Noonan. That brings back memories. I can still see his ugly head just above the bow of a 14 foot tinnie crash out through a 2 meter swell from out of inside the break at Currumbin coming over to say goodday. Not out of Currumbin bar but he would cross the old Southport bar, Hard left and go flat chat between the beach and the break all the way to Currumbin, just to break the monotony. Last I saw of him was an add for charter fishing in the Gulf at a base on the eastern side( of the Gulf that is) It was in a fishing magazine. I still talk to Bruce Harris occassionally and as Basil was his right hand man at the time, he may know. I will ask him. Or ask around the Southport trawler wharf of some of the older guys, or a net maker called Don Tannock.
Thanx E.C
I just went to see if it was our Bazil, but alas, it is not. Dunk Island is so close too, to us, and while I was waiting for the page to load, I imagined us driving down to Mission Beach and my husband starting the motor to go and give Bazil a surprise visit. Oh Well, we may get lucky soon. I am just amazed at the response so far. You and other ausfish fishos are a great group of people
Cheers Rose
My sister works for the Professionals Real Estate agents in Gladstone. The owner/principal is a man called Tom Noonan. I will ask if he is related or knows anything.
Ooops, I kind of goofed. I don't think the guy in the picture was of Bazil or Susan. The resort is owned by them maybe? The guy in the picture may be a host of a television show or something. I'm not from Australia, so I don't know these things. I also don't seem to read carefully enough before I start to type. Sorry 'bout that. There is a phone number listed for the resort at the bottom of the page where I saw his name listed if you wanted to check on that.
Also, because I'm so ashamed of my previous attempt, I looked up Bazil in the white pages. Northern regional territory. Came up with this.

No problems. I am so happy that others care and know what it is like to lose contact with a good person.
I will let you know what the oucome is
Thankyou E.C
