Great work (this is from a teacher who teaches this stuff)...

One error however, LOW pressure is created where hot air rises and HIGH pressure where cooler air sinks.....

Also to help on this point:

1) What direction are the winds coming from (Hot/cold/wet/dry origin?)

Air circulates in clockwise fashion around a low pressure system and anti-clockwise around a high-pressure system (note this is in the southern hemisphere, opposite in the northern hemisphere --> thing called coriolis effect).....

I think this is an exelent idea BUT I would like to see each instalment locked in this section with only the author able to add and modify the thread, that way in 12 months or what ever the time frame we have an exelent weather learing tool right where it should be. The lesson of the week/month or whatever time frame they come in could be discussed in the normal topic area. So I would like my post to be deleted along with the rest of them with exception to the original.

Perhaps Steve(ausfish) could copy the original lesson post and put it in it's own area, thus still allowing us to post questions to PP, AND leave us with an untarnished resource to refer to at a latter stage.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys - really appreciated.
I have plenty of time on my hands and can crank this sort of stuff out fairly easily so you won't be waiting weeks between subjects. Some members may find the formatting a little simplistic but at our level of boating we don't really need to be weather boffins and be able to reproduce a Synopotic Chart (NOT a weather map remember!!!) by memory. Basically the end result - I hope - is to be able to have most readers look at a chart and be able to work out what is going to happen WITHOUT having to read the forecast (til later). With a bit of time and effort, you will be surprised how accurate you can become in addition to using all the visual cues that are there every day to back up what the theory stuff says.
If anybody wants a copy of the subject, just drop me a PM and I will shoot you off one by return mail. Very small file size so no problem downloading it. Or you can just print it off the website.
Again thanks for constructive comments guys............. and a special thanks to the Moderators for assiting in keeping the subjects visible to all those interested. You fellas don't have to reply to each Lesson (though it's nice to get feedback) Just knowing there are Boaties showing an interest is enuf satisfaction for moi!
