1770 - Does the wind stop for long?

    Hi

I was thinking of taking a trip to 1770 to go off shore. I don't know what the weather cycles are like, but all I ever hear is how windy it is.

Can anyone tell me when the best time of year is to avoid the wind.

    Thanks

    Whichway!

its a great area even if its windy top mackerel out the front , no swell like the south coast, its just as windy off moreton, going again next week...

I've been going there for 35 years and I wouldn't consider it to be a usually windy place at all. Especially compared to some areas of the east coast.

no wind at 1770 Dave, the trees just lean to the west in search
    of sunlite.

Been going up there for over 15 years, often 3 or 4 times a year, to chase mackeral. I can honestly say I have never missed a trip out in my boat..... have come close a few times though.

I think the best times would probably be after easter, and the months heading into winter. Have also hit some great weather Sep, Oct & Nov.

There are still plenty of options if the weather doesn't co operate.

Awoonga is just over one hour away, also good fishing spots in both of the national parks there.

    Good luck

we just got back not to long ago and it was blowing 20-50knots most the week, albeit a nasty low off the coast

speaking with the charter operator up there he says the winter months are the best times to be offshore fishing up there, less run during the day also
