slimey marlin perhaps???? & no camera
sitting down at the secret spot this arvo,,, having a quiet moment,,, (no chop jr on this expedition as mum decided it was more important to catch a plane and visit relies in nsw this weekend,,,, my apologies to all on virgin flight 309 to sydney,,,) when the bait runner decided to start singing and low and behold the old creek erupted,,,,,,,the heart kicked into overdrive when the first splash registered in the brain,,, but then no more than 10 seconds later this fish was dancing all over the place,,,,after the third breach i recognised what it was,,,and i can honestly say i have never had one act in the manner this thing was,,,,,i decided to play along and roughly 15 min later a 4 plus foot slimey eel was laying at my feet totally exhausted,,,
i can honestly report it would have breached the water no less than 10 times,,,, its colors were brilliant ,,, mainly green but with irredescent streaks of yellowish/gold,,, and bright blue markings along the first hand span length of its head,,,, and what a head,,,,ugly is not the word,,,,,with a set of dentures any dentist would be proud off
i'm use to the old eel being more of a bottom hugger trying to find any hole or snag to tangle me up in,,,this particular one had me wondering if the fish olympics were in town,,,,,and i've hooked into some colorful scalies in the past,,,but he's in the running for the fashion points,,,,,,oh all up,,,5 grunter,,,1 lizard,,, all on size but as norm all put back,,,,,have to keep some for chop jr to catch
can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE

Chops,
Was it a Pike Eel? They look like a cross between a vulture and a rabid Hyena and fight like crazy.

Re: slimey marlin perhaps???? & no camera
yep thats him,,,,the blue markings though is what threw me,,, if you had a bit longer head shot the blue would start on the top flank about half an inch out of frame shot and ran for about 2-4 inches back,,,bout a quarter the way down towards it underside,,,,,
and unlike a pikey,,, the yellow/gold that ran all the way down both flanks were extremly bright,,,
or maybe this is common and i dont catch many of em,,,,,
mine had a 1/0 dangerhook hanging outta its mouth as well,,,,,,,,,
can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE

Chops,
I wonder if their colour changes like dollies do when captured?
I was at Rathdowney, tank water was the closest I came to fishing!
Went fishing with Jaybee and a group of volunteers at Sand Pumping Jetty on Friday(wash out). Jaybee organised for a group of vision impaired men to go fishing and we assisted. Great day out, despite the weather and I am surprised Joe has not posted the thread.
Went fishing today as well (see offshore) ##
