    Snapper spikes in finger

    G-day
After reading Spiro's post and seeing his finger the memory made mine ache.
I was the dekie on my mates boat and while on the way in cleaning the fish one little slip then f@#$$k that hurt pain went away pretty quick then completly forgot about it. Four weeks later my finger started to ache woke up in the morning it had swollen up so i could hardly move it , a few days later went to docs and he gave me some antibiotics on the 4th trip it was that large i had no movement in it at all, the doc sent me for and ex-ray and found nothing then sent me for a ultra sound there were 2 BLOODY HUGE spikes in the middle of my right index knuckle in the joint, they were only 1mm and 1/2 mm. He sent me to see a hand surgen that day, next morning i was in hospital fully Knocked out , when i woke up they had my finger all wrapped up and in plaster, Pain killers and bundy could not feel a thing, well untill the next day i had to go in to rehab they took the plaster off and there was 12 stichers the lenght of my finger they cut it completly open moved the tendons away removed spikes and got into the joint and scraped all the infection out . 8 trips to rehab to try to get me to move my finger $$$$$$ later 4 months on still aches and with half movement. Sheel be right does not allways work out no matter how small the spikes are.

That's why I wear shoes in the boat these days. Never know when I accidentally going to kick one of the buggers.

Damn Chris, you might have stumbled on a business idea. Set up your surgery at Kawana Boat Ramp, on the fish cleaning tables of course Can of bundy in one hand, scalpel in the other and wait for the injured fishos to come home LOL

    Cheers
