Any tips for Whale watching

like a few have said go to the top of moreton is and follow ISPY when it comes out they have a spotter plane so they know where they are.

I like to pick there direction from a distance and get about 600m ahead of them turn off your engine and wait, quite often they will come right up to the boat .

Also flinders makes for a great picnic location even take a snorkle and mask

I think that's what it means to get the 1000 Ian, I have appreciated your input over the journey...but congratulations all the same...a milestone is a milestone

How did you go yesterday?????? Did you spot any and if so where etc.

if anybody is going to hervey bay ,there is so many whales up platypus bay at the moment you have to drive slowly to avoid collision. you usually start to see them from arch cliffs north. went out last weekend and they would not leave us alone,and put up a great show for all onboard. they came so close that you could (if allowed) reach out and touch them. so if anybody is bringing there boat up/down and want to go whale watching, they wont be disappointed...

we did get out...a mate said he'd seen a heap out near flat rock sunday...a bit closer to home so we charged out yesterday late morning...we negotiated the Amity channel without any drama but it was pretty ordinary out side...sou'easter had kicked right in...so much for 10-15kts as forecast..closer to 20 plus i reckon. nearly a meatre and a half of wind chop...

Anyway, we found a pod to the North East of Flat Rock...they were in a really playful mood, tail slapping, rolling, breaching, throwing themselves full length over the each other...absolutely amazing.

After 1/2 hr they up and off so did we, inside at Amity beach we lunched on the grass and the kids went for a shallow dip, to be greeted by a pod of dolphins...what a blast...fed them a few pillies, the dolphins that is...the cream of the cake of a great day.

Certainlyworthwhile for a family outing
