    Woody Point Jetty

Woody Point Jetty has been closed to public access apparently until the safety of the structure can be determined.

Sad to hear about the closure of the jetty spent many a night there many years ago .
Hopefully they can sort things out soon and reopen the jetty before too long .

Reminds me of an old tale my dad told me of
a small rocky headland not far north of Brisbane
in the early 1900's, where on dusk, all the old salts
would gather for hours to watch the naked mermaids
    frolick in the water.....

Always wondered why they called it Woody Point.

Looked ok last time we were there. I wonder what the drama is? I can only think that there needs to be some fencing included around the end.

Maybe it's local developers not wanting the fishing population tainting the image of their high rises??

    oh lone wolf
i do hope your just cynical ( no offence)
i'm too blueeyed to consider they would do somehting like that
denial can be a pretty place you know

i hate the highrises that popped up since i got here 6 years ago
but love that lil old jetty more then the redcliffe jetty
i think it has mor character

    Puksy,

I am in total agreeance with you. I grew up fishing Woody Point and the old highway. It was always a safe structure.I think the issue these days is public safety and that's about it.

I have seen developers "pull strings" before to improve the aesthetics of an area. However this was only a light hearted suggestion with no basis.

    lone wolf
    first of all
    puksy is very sweet thanks

and i thought as much that it was a suggestion otherwise im sure you would have put some link in or something
of course public safety comes first seeing everyone is sueing so quickly these days and i dodnt think redcliffe could afford having to pay a major settlement to someone who got hurt

i have yet to get to the old highway for some fishing my spik keeps telling me its hard work because of the height to get somehting up
but i think once he gets some off time to recoup i can coax him into a session there

as for the developers (as is said i sometimes live in the land of denial) they should do somehting to make redcliffe more liveable for everyone thatll be fine by me and not trying to turn it into another surfers paradise >

i know im not alone with my thinking there but i dont think i have much say in it ( well not until iam allowed to vote anyway)

i hope they fix the jetty and we can use it again

    Re: Woody Point Jetty

I caught my first fish off that jetty nearly 40 years ago, I really hope they fix it properly. Not like the redcliffe jetty. I can remember walking along the woody point jetty during the 74 floods trying to find the end of it without falling off. We where young dumb and immortal back in those days.
