    Council Theives

Originally the building i lease was safe from the Nth/Sth Tunnel road works and any resumption of land needed for it, but as from october they have now decided the building i lease is theirs, and under the Acquisition of Land Act the Council can legally take your land and you have no say in the matter.
The owner of the building will get compensation (when is another question), but their not paying the valuled prices to anyone.
Being a tennant they (and very generous of them), have given me till the 30Nov to move.
How the hell can i find another building, get plans drawn up by a hydralics engineer (which i need), get plumbers, electrician etc and have EPA pass everything and be back in operation by the 1st week in December, "One and Buckleys".
So i now have the fight on my hands to try and get some sort of compensation, My business is unsaleable with no building.
The cost to move and re-establish is pretty high, and they wont pay anything till after i move, thats if i can find a suitable building.
The legal battle has begun, but could take months.
So come Nov' it looks like i've lost the business and joined the unemployed.
    Bunch of theiving Council P#@$%!
    Anyone got a job >
    regards

Really sorry to hear about your predicament Webby.

Again, it's don't worry about the little battler he'll survive (somehow) attitude of governments no matter which level your talking about.

You'd think they would at least provide help with relocation and leasing etc.

That tunnel is going to be a dud anyway, can't believe they aren't going to put a stop to it before it turns to sh*t.

Billions of dollars, imagine the public transport you could provide with that!
You say fish, I say yes please.

    Sorry to hear mate.

It will probably cost you more in legal fees than what you may get paid if you win.

The problem is, and they rely on it, is that even if you win and get paid costs you only get a max of 66% so you are out of pocket no matter which way you go.

Maybe there is a good lawyer on the site that could give you a hand as a kind of payback to all the help you have given them and countless other people over the years.

Webby no good to hear about your situation.

I recently managed an industrial shed at the Gabba which was also resumed, and have found the manner in which the Council aquires Real Estate to be pretty offensive.

If you can PM the details of what size and what location warehouse you need, I will check to see if there is anything suitbale for you.

    Cheers

Brian that is just so unfortunate and I really feel for you in every way. It is normally the sort of thing you read about happening to others but never to someone you know. I would like to wish you the best of luck and hopefully something will present itself to you. Sometimes in the darkest of times everthing happens for a reason and who knows, maybe a better opportunity will arise through all of this for you. Hang in there mate. You have a lot of support here.

    Hey Brian,

I've seen "the castle" doest that qualify as legal assistance? If so happy to lend a hand... "tell em their dreamin"

Seriously though, most solicitor stuff is grunt work... just knowing which papers to file and all that. Dont tell him I sent you - but Gary Fooks isnt a legal eagle but he's on the ball regards the law (and has the experience to prove it) - if you get him on board I'll also jump in and help prepare the paperwork - then all you need is representation come court day - should chop your legal bill down quite a bit.

If it doesnt work out I'm sure you could probably alway get a job as a charter skipper - you have about 14,000 potential customers on this site alone

    Good luck!

    Adam

I've been wondering about what is going on on that side of the road. Where those old houses were removed a few doors down there were some survey pegs in wierd places, if the rest of the buildings were to remain. Obviously not!

We were looking for accomodation for some of our people a few weeks back, and there is some comercial stuff in Finsbury st at Newmarket that might suit your needs.

I'd fire off an email to one of the 4BC hosts and try to get them to read it on air, or just call them. They seem to be pretty tight with Cambell. Maybe pull some strings. The council don't need any more bad publicity over the tunnels.
    Worth a try.
    Good luck Webby.
