    Engraving your gear

If you live in Qld, you can borrow an engraver from your local police station and engrave some of your more transportable items.

Say your name was Fred Nerk and you were born on lets say, 23 January 1972, then you would engrave FN230172Q on your items. Then you fill out a form at your local police station with your name and details with the engraving details on the same form. It gets entered into a data base and the form then gets shredded.

If an honest person finds your lost item, its easily traced back to you. If somebody knocks your gear off, its harder to get rid of.

Don't forget to return the engraver to your local police station.

Or you go to a garage sale like I did last Saturday and see an entire set of Sidchrome sockets with grinder marks on every single one of them. Like you say though IF an honest person finds your lost item otherwise some dishonest mutt still sells your property after he steals it.

    Cheers
    James.
