Howdy folks, got home from work tonight to find my house had been broken into and all my fishing rods, reels and tackle box and boxes of hardbodied lures had all been stollen.......Even took a box full of soft plastics i imported from the USA....camera has gone and they pulled out every draw and cupboard probably looking for cash money.
GOING TO PHONE CASH CONVERTER STORES TOMORROW.
No doubt they will try and sell the items to make some fast cash!!!!!!!!

Brent,
Very sorry to hear that mate!
Just one suggestion ... the crooks are probably more likely to target smaller pawnbrokers and used/second hand stores. Cash Converters has a 100 point ID policy .... no ID, no purchase! They also use a computer system from which info (ie serial numbers, etc) are downloaded by the police on a very regular basis. Trust me, they don't want the reputation of dealing in stolen and hot property either.
One last suggestion ... make a list, use pics and photos and FAX it or hand deliver it to your local pawnbrokers (ideally the guys in the buyers room) so they can be alert to anyone offering that kind of gear.
Good luck and I hope you manage to recover some of it.
Herby
p.s. I received a call from the cops the other day saying they had located some property I had stolen back in 2002 when I was broken into The gear had been recovered as part of a drug bust on some vietnamese heroin dealers
Anyway, you just never know .... my fingers are crossed for ya.
Sorry to here that Brent, do you think its worth while putting up some details of what was stolen? Any specific marks, writing, colours etc. If the theives try to sell it then there is a chance someone here may come accross it.
Don't believe everything you hear mate we had some stuff stolen from our shed a couple of years ago & found the chainsaw in the local cashy's, called the cops and on investigation found that the three different forms of id used to get "100" points where for three different people and when we pressed the coppers to charge cashy's for recieveing stolen goods the coppers didn't want a bar of it left a very sour taste that one.
Brent,
Very sorry to hear about your loss mate its times like these you just hope karma comes into play, with a big truck!

I know how you feel Brent. Sorry to hear you lost all your fishing gear. I have been robbed before and there's nothing like the feeling of a stranger going through your house. Out of curiousity where are you from so we have a rough idea where the items might show up. .
not good Brent - sorry to hear it
I had one guy caught by the police at cash conberters. He was on his second bike which he stole stealthily from inside our house while I was showering. The first bike was insured and the second was the replacement - and he'd come back for it as well.
Fortunately I had already alerted cash converts to the possibility it could come in. The idiot it took it to the nearest cash converts 250 meters from our house! and the police station was another 500 meters down the road. Very dumb.
Alert cash converters and you might be able to get the idiot and your gear. I've heard some stories about what goes through and what gets sold. Sad mate.
Thanks guys i have home contents insurance so hope i can at least replace some of the gear........You can never replace some of the older stuff but i guess its just something you have to live with.
Cheers Brent
Mark i live in Brisbane.......Yes mate its not a good feeling coming home from work knowing your dogs are outside and when you open the garage door they run out to greet you.
Sorry to hear Brent, that really sucks. Weird how they only took your fishing gear - really hit you where it hurt. Petty theives, probly doing it for a quick buck so they can buy their next lot of drugs - maybe a generalisation but its the good people, like yourself, that suffer and never really recover/replace the items that have been lost. These scum (that never seem to get caught and if they do, they get off with a slap on the wrist) should be taken out the back and flogged. Or at least MADE (I don't care how they do it) to pay back what has been lost - community service, compulsory employment (earnings go directly to you), personal slave, something, anything. I always love the stories where burglers have been caught by property owners and have had the shit beaten out of them before being taken away by police. Bit more of that and we might see a decrease in these types of incidences >
Brent, I know how you feel [smiley=behead.gif]. We got home last night to find that some lowlife had broken in and stolen some cash(mostly from the kids moneyboxes) and a few bits of jewellery.
Its not a nice feeling and the kids were pretty shaken this morning. I would like to get my hands on these scum and take them for a one way crabbing trip [smiley=behead.gif].
I will be doing the Cash converters rounds so I will keep an eye out for your gear. The investigating police [smiley=bobby.gif] said it was well worth the effort as a lot off stuff still ends up there.
