Last night on ESPN they had a liveaboard charter off Sth Cal coast.Combs,the Becks,Singler,Whitlok+ more, all the heavy hitters of the SWF scean on 1 boat chasing Tuna and Wahoo(2 records caught) on fly,awsome action, better than the start of Baywatch (but as half as long).It may be repeated later in the week,Its pay TV so Id be surprised if it wasnt shown again. By the way, Florida is not the home of SWF, it has been practised in many places around the world since the year dot. And it was transported into the USA, Canada, India, South Africa, New Zealand and OZ by British Army etc officers and Home Office employees in the 19th Century. Was done in England in 1850 and they even fished off rocks, which pleases me no end.
But from 1914 to 1946 this rock had a lot of very serious trauma events 2 large wars, a flu epidemic, a world wide depression in which Gov's went broke and the Wall St crash in the USA just about stuffed the country. After WW2, there was a lot of guys coming home and there had been a technology change, Fibreglass was invented like and equipment was better, and during the cold war things just went from go to galloping. Most of this happened in the USA but it happened here too.
We are conditioned into thinking that it more or less started after WW2 in Florida. But thats incorrect, just one of the many restarts it has hads over the millennia.
