well I have this middle finger that i run the line through when stripping line sometimes it gets so painfull that I have to change hands with the rod and massage the the finger,I don,t know how it happend, either i am doing to much fly fishing which is every morning, or i am geting artherites.
here you are you are not alone.
good luck with your tenis elbow no remedies from here don.t fly fish for a while if you can see how it turns up.
cheers vince.
It may not be a popular solution, but I learnt to cast with my left. It has been pretty handy to be able to cast with both arms now.
Cheers,
Simon.
Casting with both hands is something that quite a number of good flyfishers can do. I wish I could - maybe I should practice. The usual reason is for casting in tight areas where you may have trouble swinging the rod with your regular casting hand. learning to cast with the other hand may have multiple benefits.
Cheers

My tennis elbow or what it was thought to be ended up being ripped tendons that were found during an MRI, if your elbow problems persist there may be other problems. I had surgery in 1999 and after pulling the tendons out and stitching them back together (which were only holding on by a thread) I'm good as new but the healing and physical therapy was about 3 months.
I let it go to long without getting a 2nd opinion.
Fingers: I use what we call Vet Wrap purchased at the local Farm store (what is used to wrap Horses legs) it comes in a 4" wide roll and I cut it in 3 with a Band saw, it is very cheap and saves the fingers. I wrap thumbs and first 2 fingers.
Hope this helps.
it will get worse,
my elbow and sholder is stuffed from waaaaay to much chucking, and that is only over 4 years.
not good, but i have found pig hunting is a good pass time while waiting for injurys to heal.

Yep and when you fall off the motorbike chasing hogs through the scrub and bruise your arse bone (done it) you can go back to fly fishing.
I hate the tennis elbow! I got it real bad a few times. Once while stripping a fly as fast as possible for queenies for a few hours non stop. And another memorable occasion when I was flyrodding for spanish macks off Uranga pier. That tennis elbow hurt for days.
Another thing I hate is wearing through several layers of skin in my stripping finger. I hate that with a passion.
Or a rap on the thumb from a fast spiining reel!
As a kid, I used to get line cuts permanently appearing in my right index finger from catching Redfin in Lake Hume on Mrs. Simpsons. We'd tie two flies to our leader about 2' apart and catch Redfin runts two at a time. Had the odd hook in the shoulder and finger too.
