cracks in intermediate line
Hi all
I discovered today that the outer casing on my SA Striper taper line has got cracks in it just past the head (about four foot), the rest appears to be still in good order. Can this section be cut out and the line rejoined without to much problem? How? I have only ever put braided loops on the ends and have never had to rejoin a line.
Thanks
Neil

Re: cracks in intermediate line
Mind you this is just a guess. I'll bet at one end you have both the inner and outer, like the core and the outer cover, locked together while at the other end they are not. Lines stretch, and mostly the stretch in the inner and outer are not the same so if both are not secured together cracking can occur. It happens on SA shooting heads, and probably any other line, unless the inner has absolutely no stretch. Just cut it off and make sure you lock both together. Max

Neil, sorry I didn't get back, but if the cracks are after the head portion of the line, I would cut it off and use it as a shooting head, Just put a braided loop on both the head and running line and loop to loop them. It will not effect the casting all that much if the loops are small and tight. Max

I'll give that a try, it sounds like the way to go.
Thanks
