    Whiting flies

    G'day all
Does anyone have any effective whiting patterns lurking around that they would like to share, I was thinking of something bloodwormy to add a scent to. A nice slow retrieve should be inviting.
    cheers

That would be a red pipe cleaner with a hook, wouldn't it?

Hi Landy1 use about 4-5cm of red elastic, the ones that girls tie up the pony tales, with one hook at the end one at the front with little chenill and lead wire rapped as the head, like u said very slow mouving on the send, they are very fussy when it comes to fly, if you dip the fly with squashed yabbys you might have a chance.good luck.
    cheers vince.

They take lil pink Baited Breaths in my neck of the woods. Never hooked any of the big ones, very fussy, those 2 hook blood worm flies with a foam head look like they would be better. MQ

    Re: Whiting flies

Back in the dim darks, like 1969/70 I caught a few whiting fishing the flats around Carnarvon with a very small white fly. The trick was to get on the flat on a rising tide, which sent a 3" high wall of water belting over the flat with schools of whiting about 2 feet behind the surge. I cast the white fly onto the sand in front of the surge, and as the water over ran it the fly flipped around and the whiting jumped on to it.
Worked every time. I did it while I was hunting bonefish which I never did find. But its a sure fire way to catch whiting on flats. VBG Max

    Cheers
