    H/BAY 18-19 march

I had the guys from Mayfly Tackle, Andrew Sommers and Chris Baty come up to have a fish after they competed in the Invitational Fly Tournament on the Sunshine Coast.

They did pretty well there getting Champion Team and Andrew getting Runner-up Champion Angler,Well done guys.

The first morning I took them to the Wathumba area and they managed 8 or so Longtails and Mactuna both on fly and spin.Taking fish on the Innovator 10/11 Matrix Bluewater and the Innovator Distancespin Magnumbutt with candies and MOJO soft plastics.

The weather was pretty ordinary so we started heading back along the beach around 1pm to stay out of the wind and the guys managed a few dart and we saw a couple of small pods of longies with no more casts made.

The guys decided it was beer oclock and we headed back to the harbour, with the guys very happy for the mornings effort with a couple of double hookups and some good laughs.

The second day I took them to a Gt hot spot and they were busted up quite a few times on the MOJO plastics even after going from 14lb to 30lb braid.Fishing close to heavy structure is allways difficult but put Gt's in the equation and things get real interesting and some more good laughs were had.

We moved to another spot and Chris hooked a good Queenie around the meter mark on there new spin rod called Godziller Spin and it performed nicely, but after one jump and a couple of good runs the hooks pulled and it won an early release.

I tried to show the guys some goldens for some fly shots but the wind and clouds [showers, rain] made things imposible. So I took them out between lil Woody and Big Woody and got them another double hookup on Longies But just as Andrew had his fish near the boat the fly came out and we watched it swim into the depths.Chris landed his on the Distancespin Magnumbutt without any problems.

Then the wind started to blow even stronger than it had been so it was decided it was beer oclock again. It was a great couple of day execpt for the weather with some nice fish caught and some good laughs had. Here's a couple of pics of the guys.Paul Dolan

G/day Big Fella,Yeh maaatte pretty fortunate to have such a big wind break but it still gets pretty ugly when you get off the beach a bit. Some good longies showin up and hopefully will be a good few months ahead and still plenty of goldens around but this will change real soon if the temps keep dropin.Hope the jobs goin well and I gota get me one of those 4.1 polycraft soon.Any news on the duck pond and it's good to hear your still hookin a few.Paul

    Maaaaaaate,
the duck pond has been produceing some Big Bass, but as with most things it is weather related.
if you are smart enough to pick the right moon phase and a windless morning = Yeeee Haaaaa !!

Ps; the new poly is sweet!! super quiet on the water, great for the flats.
