By the way, a bloke here in the west said, in 1966, "A queenfish is put on earth to make a flyfishermans paradise, or hell if you are watching another fly guy with one on the hook" The guy was a yank called Cal Hoover, ex USN, lived in Onslow, Could really fish, especially with a fly rod. Max.
'fraid it's a bit hard to top those fish from far flung spots that Scotto has posted - being a stay at home and do it all yerself kind of flyfisher but here's a couple of my fav's
YFT'S
Macks are OK too. And you don't need $2000 outfits to stop them.
25y/o Hardy Marquis (no drag, just rim control and a clicker) and a 22y/o Fenwick fibreglass rod..16kg mack taken in '97. 6kg tippet and White Deciever....just like Max G did 25 years before that...and off the shore too boot!!
Better put one in of me and a YFT..30.5kg on 10. Out of my 18 foot boat with the most inexperienced crew one could find.
The previous YFT was Richard Sallie's 43.5 kg fish on 8. To date the biggest taken on fly that counts (IGFA legal) and one that will be in the charts for a long time.
Hey Scotto, I'm gunna be in Exmouth next week and that mack of Morsies is looking pretty shaky. You better get a goodun if ya want it to make the charts!!!
In other words-- its always nice, while having a pissing contest, to be holding a huge,,,, billfish pic. I keep repeating myself but "awsome stuff guys".So many good fish, Im drooling. MQ
