I'm looking to try chasing tarpon on fly in the upper reaches of the noosa river, as well as trevally down the bottom end.
What would be a good set up to get started with?
have done plenty of Tarpon fishing up there and have had alot of success, however had had alot of misses to. Tarpon are those fish that are on or off, well thats my excuse anyway.
I use 6lb plus leader and use anything from small deciever (I use pink or red and white) poppers wiggler minnows etc and have heard of people just using a small hook with bead heads and/or with alittle flash wrapped around it.
I have alittle time off soon and will be travelling up there for a fish, so if interested, throw me an email.
Thanks for the tips and offer to go for a fish. I haven't got any fly gear at the moment, but looking to get into it after getting very frustrated throwing just about everything I had at them with my light spin gear. Got blown away by some big bass on poppers up the other side, couldn't stop them on 6lb braid, awesome!
