Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good book or DVD for fly fishing, I have been using the fly rod for a while, just after some tips on knots and casting mainly.
G'day Canoedle
For casting, the Lefty Kreh DVD's are pretty hard to beat, easy to follow and you don't need a degree in physics to follow his instruction .
As for knots, grab a copy of Peter Morse's book"Saltwater Flyfishing Fundamentals",it covers most of the knots you'll ever need as well as rigging, casting and techniques.
If you live in Brissie call into the shop for a chat,we're fly freindly .
cheers
Glenn
G'day Glenn,
Where in springwood are ya m8? I am way out west at Anstead, bull shark territory If I have the oportunity I will head over one day. As for being fly friendly, it's a bit sad the reception you get from most tackle shops. I usually have to ask where they have hidden the fly gear and they usually look at me like I'm mad and point to a dark corner down the back where no one goes. needless to say the selection is generally not too exciting. When I got some dollars I will be down to say gday.
Cheers,
Karl.
I learn't a lot of stuff from a book called The Orvis Guide to Saltwater fishing, by Nick Curcione - -its very USA specific ito fish names, but method, knots, casting is all well covered. With foreword by Lefty Kreh
