    Re: Mooloolabah Tuna comp

Matt the Hervey Bay comp was 8kg,too light I recon for longtails all leaders should all be 10kg if there a catch and release comp.
Much better on the fish to be landed fast and swim away healthier, also I recon all tuna's and other small scaled or no scaled fish should be handled with wet cloth gloves to aviod skin contact as they do get damaged from our hands[body oils and sunscreen] and can get skin rot around the wrist of the tail and if it falls off there dead.I believe the gloves should also be part of the comp rules to look after the species better.

On most occasions now I get the angler one pic of a species then release the rest of the same boatside i the water as to stress the fish less.
We as fisherpersons have to be seen to be looking after the fish as best we can otherwise it gives the green movement more to play with against us in their push to have C&R fishing stop.
Nearly all the fish handled on my charters are done so with wet gloves for the safety of the fish and the angler.
After all there's no point in releasing a fish if it's going to die anyway we have to start being more responsable with our fish handling methods.
Mate just my opinion and alot of people will probably disagree.
    Regards Paul
