    Fair price for boat

I have been looking at new boats, but a mate is considering selling his 4.5 metre Quintrex Top Ender - about 7 years old with a 60hp 2stroke oil injected Mariner, and added extras including a side console, kill tank etc, in good nick and on a good offroad trailer. He is not sure what it's worth, and neither am I. Any suggestions as to a fair price?

Check boatpoint.com.au, look in 'boats for sale' and compare

    Re: Fair price for boat

I`d say around the $6000 to $8000 range depending on condition.

Ball park figures only though!! ;-)

My guess if its in good condition it could be worth close to $10000 ,quintrex seem to hold value and a new one would be around $16000 ish.....

    Re: Fair price for boat

    Thanks for the advice.

I figure that the rig is probably worth around $10k, but the owner has decided on an asking price of $14k, although I believe he will go a bit lower.

If anyone else has thoughts I would like to hear.

Trav: Quintrex no longer make the 4.5 Top Ender, but the 4.35 is around $20k with a 4 stroke motor, and the 4.55 which has a maxi transom (pod) is around 24k, both of which have the "millenium hull".

    Re: Fair price for boat

    I use this method.

Price the motor as a stand alone item. 7yrs old 40% of new

Hull as stand alone. 7yrs old I presume 40% of new

Trailer. New ones are about 1200 - 1400 for that length, but being old less than half price.

Don't worry abouit electronics except for GPS and Sounder. Add 50% of their new price.

Total it up and that's a starting point.

Personally, I wouldn't but a boat that had a motor older than 5 years.

I think, ( without lookin ), the whole show would come in at about 6K as a start. ???
