hey guys
check this out...
I saw a catermeran being sold in the tradingpost with a 700hp motor!! (inboard obviously) for 250 grand just like to know who buy these things?????/
lol
cheers jack
That particular boat is US navy (seals) fast insertion/extraction vessel. Built like a greyhound but fits into a Galaxy (on its trailer) for transport anywhere.
Crew of 5, seating for about 20 and the seating has to be seen to be believed especially at US$5000 each but obviously needed with 6g hits having been recorded in these seats in bad conditions.
Speed ??? of course is classified as is anything that floats in the US navy but having seen them cruising it probably wouldn't be hard to imagine what they are capable of. As for speed, interesting was the comment from the wheel man that he steers by the compass as GPS is too far behind.
That inflatable on the back ramp has a special production 60hp OMC with an overbuilt (bigfoot) gearbox.
And with all this technology and such the main arms (by choice) are a pair of 50cals (WWII vintage) mounted on each side of the stern. That's apart from the computer controlled chain gun that will fit on th back deck but they appear to have a liking for the 50's .
Volvo, that's about it, NASA designed and US$5 grand a pop.
Supposedly indestructable but the guys mentioned they can be broken, especially when the front windows get punched out in big seas . One reason they selectively place (move) the fixed and opening windows so the crew seats aren't directly in line with the opening windows.
