i have an old manta craft tinny that is my electric only boat and i was out in it on cooby and i noticed a fair amount of water in the boat with me. . .of course the first thing i did was check the bung. . .its was right. . .obviously there is a crack in the hull somewhere my problem is finding it. . .any ideas??? ???
Chris,
My first alum punt was about 40 years old when I bought it and it leaked like a sieve.
On a bright sunny day, put it upside down on two supports and crawl underneath. Look for little light patches where the sun comes through. I found about 8 tiny pin holes this way.
Hi Chris 8)
My first boat was a tinny and I had the same problem.
Well I half filled it with water and two days later same amount of water,
Had me totally confused. ??? ???
what I found was the hole in it was where the slide rails were.
The old fella that owned it before me had carpet on the rails and the wet carpet corroded the tinny.
Didnt leak while on the trailer but once off the trailer it leaked.
So fill it half full and see what happens.
Put a bit of food colouring in the water makes it easier to see the leak.
Hi Chris
Sorry to say this ,but those old Manta's tend to have more cracks than
a dancing academy.
Hard to fix , from experience when you weld one crack , another pops up right beside it.
Use it while you can then upgrade
