    Ok can I ask the tuff questions?

    I'm not of the area but knowing a little about the generic pattern of a high sitting right overhead Ques 3 & 4 appears to conflict. I could convince myself the answers are switched ??? as one isn't going to get moderate SE's and low cloud from smack bang in the middle of a high (over Brisbane).

    Also Ques 9 and realizing things can be rather variable just depending where (and how far out) this low formed but the norm for a low (especially in winter) forming just off the coast gives Brisbane the traditional westerlies.

    I'm with you Kev.

    I got the Q's mostly right allowing for cusp conditions.................

    Last weekend was a doozey for the BOM.

    Friday forecast ( light winds & showers )...actually ...10 knots and a freekin storm.

    Saturday forecast ( 15-20knt sw/s and 1.7 seas )... actually 5knot sw and less than 1mtr.

    DOH !

    I think the BOM should stop taking notice of their computer forecasts and stick their head out the window more often.......... ???

    Hi, Im no wx expert, but i've found if a big high parked over Brisbane usually produces clear days possible high cloud and variable winds, which in turn during winter due to warm days and cool night produces patchs of fog.

    And i would say 99.9% of wx fronts move from west to east rotating anti clock wise.
    The 1 % would be lows pressure systems with the intent of turning into a cyclone.
    Correct me if im wrong

    I think the secret to questions 3 & 4 is the word centre?
    Question 3 is more than likely talking about a setup like this:



    I'm with Kerry on question 9, a is more like the right answer?

    Isn't the H for High expectations of fish, and the L for Low expectations ?

    Put a high of 1020 right on top of Brisvegas and you won't find me at work........... 8) 8)

    I agree..a high over Brisbane would give great conditions..similar to the centre of a cyclone in that respect...the winds radiate out from the centre of a pressure system and circulate dependent on the pressures...anti clockwise for a high..clockwise for a low.
    The centre of the weather pattern is quite calm.

    Q3 and Q4 contradict each other..you cannot have moderate south eat winds as in Q3 and have fog forming. Fog will only form with very little or no wind.

    The tests are good but let's get em right. I work on this idea..I look outside..the leaves on the mango tree aren't moving..the sun is shining..FISHING TIME...then keep an eye out from there..I have given up on forecasts..I have taken notice of them before..rain storms etc..stayed home and what happens..I end up mowing the lawn in bright sunshine. Not any more.
