    manly ferries

i'm stuck in sydney for a few months and decided to catch the ferrie to manly on the weekend.
looked at it on the dock and she was nosed in, i jumped up the pointy end for a good view (the end with the anchor gear).
she started pulling back from the dock, i thought this old tub can really reverse, sure was, she never turned and i found i was at the 'stern'.
more observations showed they can run either way around.
question, how the hell do they efficiently do that?
    props on both ends??
    just thought i'd ask .
    aido.

They sure do have props & rudders at both ends, however I reckon only one would be working at any one time, unless monouvering in a tight space. They even have dual wheelhouses.
