The idea of the foam is to provide flotation if the boat was to take on water or flip over. If you take it out and something happens the boat will sink to the bottom

and if you take it out you will notice your boat will be alot more noiser in the water just as if it was a open tinnie
my thought would be to leave it in , it doesn't add to the weaght and isn't a pain so as they say if it ain't broke don't need to fix it

Just to add a bit to that advice. Why dont you wrap the bits of Styro in some construction plastic and seal it with duct tape or similar, seeing you have the floor up! This will protect the foam if you ever happen to spill fuel in the bilge as the vapours from spilled fuel will turn the styro to goo. Trust me I know from first hand experience! And its really messy crap to clean of your driveway!!! 8)

Hey guys how often do you check under those sealed floors. I am paranoid about something getting under my floor it is a open tinny with a large floor that is not sealed and am sick of liffting the floor after every trip, and have been thinking of painting the inside and sercuring the floor more permanetly and sealing to stop objects ever getting under is this a good idea or a waste of time. Cheers fellas

starfish girl i have a 385 explorer trophy by quintrex
it has a very good flooring system in it a very tight fit
but i only lift the floor up once a year just to give it a clean in check for any damage that may arise from any fule leaks or garbage under it

Starfish girl, you should only need to check under your floor once or twice a year to clean and chack for sinkers and swivels etc, provided you and your crew are fairly careful when you are out fishing.

If the styrofoam is part of the construction of the boat by the manufacturer and you remove it. There could be problems re insurance if you ever sink it.
