    Tacometer AC or DC

Well, didnt do any good that way, maybe someone can point me in the right direction , to find out if I need an AC or DC Tachometer.
I want to install a tachometer in my boat. The motor is a two cylinder, and has a small bore capacitor discharge (CDI) ignition system.
The charge system consists of a lighting coil, rectifier to convert the power from AC to DC to charge the battery and run lights.
What type of Meter should I purchase, AC or DC.What cost?
    Regards David

Who is the best marine electrics guy on southside, who could install a taco on my 2 cylinder, Mariner ( Made by Yamaha)
    What type do I buy.
