half- cab or cuddy - cab?

hi im new to this site and finding lots of great infomation from the mesage boards
I am in the process of buying my first boat and im interested in a half cab around the 14 -16 ft
after looking thru the papers and trading post there seems to be plenty out there
But could anybody please explain the differance between a cuddy-cab and a half -cab( if there is a differance)
I am on the gold coast and as soon as i sell my old triumph motorbike i will be hitting the water
    thanks

    Hi Scotty,
A half cab normally has a V-Berth & will sleep two. A cuddy is a smaller shelter & will store all your gear on the deck but has no bunks. Gives more fishing room & some protection from the elements. But really dedicated people fish out of C/Cs all year round.
    ROLL TIDE, ROLL.................

    Regards,
    Peter

Scotty, that cuddy cab that is advertised in the for sale board is a bottler.Twin bunks.Great first unit.Excellent condition. Cuddy cabins are a little smaller in the cab than a half cab, but certainly still suit a family.Dont confuse a cuddy cab with the newer versions that are gear storers only, no bunks.

Hi Scotty.....Mate on a cold winters night when the fish stop biting theres nothing like catching 40 winks in the comfort of your half cab!!
There,s no doubt an open boat is more fishable but each to there own i say.

with the family and the bad weather that always follows me out fishing I would say go the half cab, as said before when the fish an't bitting then nothing better then some shut eye, with the rod still out and ratchet on .
I stepped down to a runabout as money got tight now I have only the bimbi top as shelter, sheesh I wish I could swap back.

well i must say i have owned a caddly cab, center console(washing machine more like it the way you get wet),and open boats and i need to say i can't wait till i get the next boat i'm looking at with the cross of a cuddly and half
i would like to have more shelter and somewhere where i could head out and stay a night on the water
but it is more what you want and need
i still have my open bass boat thats good in little rivers and have my cuddle thast no good apart from a one dayer but really can't wait till i get my hands on a 1/4 cab

For doing the family thing get the half cab
The wife can lay down a read and the kids sleep lol
    and you get to fish
but get the 16ft as I have the 14ft half cab and wish I had more space to fish.

16 feet is a good length to give full length (1.9m)bunks and still have room to fish.I have a sportsmancraft 4.6(more like 4.75 but who's counting)half cab that has enough room to fish two adults and two kids, nice high sides and bunks long enough for me to stretch out.All pushed along by merc 115 tower of power, and yes ,plenty of go!
