Jeffo, The 3 pot is by far the better option, smoother running at any speed and a lot less vibration. But if you have the oportunity try pulling both of them over. SO much easier with the 3 pot and that makes for a better day fishing, especially if you are chasing macks or tuna around the bay

Haven't been with a 3 cyl but I owned a Yammie 30 CV and was an absolute dream of a motor, owned it for 2 and a half years and never let me down. It always started with about 2 - 3 pulls every time.
Sorry Jeno
I love my 2 pot screamer
Very reliable and does the job well.
I agree with the guys, the 3 pot is much smoother and you would have to seriously weigh it up over the 2 pot if you wanted to troll.
cheers
Les
Hi Jeno
I have a new 3cyl Yammie and it is very smooth at idle and easy to pull over, it seems to be finished better than the CV2 cyls. I got the best deal at Yatla Yamaha and are nice guys as well. So if you have the extra cash think about the 3cyl

Have you considered a 4-stroke? I wish I forked out a bit more when I bought my new 40 hp yammie 18 months ago.

I know its a different motor I have a 3 cyl Merc, Much more torque than a 2 pot
What sort of price differance between the two?
Sorry for late reply had to go away. About $800.00. Think will go with the 3.

Bought a two pot 25hp Yammie 2002 model brand new and was very, very, very dissapointed with the huge amounts of fuel it consumed (motor was on a 4metre tinney) especially compared to the 40hp Honda 4stroke I run now on a much bigger boat.- beatle
