which prop for which boat
hey guys just about to pick up a new yamaha 25, but am curious as to whether the choice of pitch on the prop will make any difference to the performance of the boat.its an open dingy3.8 stacer with a bit of weight incorperated in casting platform, floor and seating.the guy i am buying it from seems to think the standard prop will be fine, but because he is not making much out of the sale i was wondering if i was getting the old SHE"LL BE RITE off you go, next! deal.. any advise..thanks

Re: which prop for which boat
Hi Coyote
As I understand it, the correct prop will allow the motor to rev to its max revs with normal working load (passengers, fuel, gear etc). See your operators Guide for rev range. If revs higher than recommended maximum then pitch of prop should be increased to drop revs back. If revs lower then pitch of prop should be decreased to bring revs up. The dealer would have a pretty fair idea of correct prop needed. Did the dealer take it for a water test after fitting the new motor? My dealer went through 4 props till the correct one was found.
Hope above helps.

The factory prop for the 25 will suit many applications.
I think the dealer is steering you in the right direction.
