Would it work
Hi All,, A couple of us old fellers were yarning the other day about things we had seen on the water & in boats. Got onto electric motors & wondered about making our own by rigging a starter motor to a whipper snipper shaft. Must be 45 years ago now a mate's brother had a starter motor rigged to a shaft & propellor mounted in an old plywood surfboard. You know what was used before styrene foam. Went Ok so long as you stayed upright. Can scrounge or make the parts so has anyone any ideas on whether it would work. Bill

Hi Bill
the only problem I could see would be the ultra high current draw, you probably only get 10 minute run time. the modern electric o/board has electronics to reduce current draw and still keep the power (thrust)
cheers
