Speedo Problem
Anyone know how they work these days.
Mine has decided to have a rest. #???
In the good old days there was a plastic arm thingy that stuck down into the water off the transom and used to pivot up with water pressure and give an approximate reading.
Now I think the speedo runs from the motor somehow, is a 4st 60 hp Merc, 2003 model, and the speedo was surprisingly accurate , when compared to the GPS. #

Mate
There is a tiny pitot hole on the front edge of the skeg on the outboard. They often fowl up. Above this there is a small plastic tube (12" above) usually painted, so you probably haven t noticed it. Disconnect it at this point and blow some comressed air down the short length towards the pitot pick up. This usually will clear the line.

Thanks Aaron, that will be it for sure, I neglect to mention in the original post that I slid it over a submerged log in Hussey Creek, (Pumistone passage) just before I noticed it wasn't working.
Motor was out of gear and I was only going about walking speed, didn't think I did any damage , but probably picked up a bit of rotten wood in the hole.
