50 HP Evinrude E-tec ....without a doubt!
cheers baldy
Hi all
I have permission to start the negotiation process for a new motor, to replace my burnt out 40hp 2-stroke Mercury. The favoured replacement is 50hp, 4-stroke Yamaha with EFI.
If the price was right, what 50hp motor would you purchase?
Cheers

Wello_Pete,
What boat is the new donk going on ??
Cheers Craigie.
I'd go for any of the new 4 strokes, Honda, Yammie, Suzuki. All good motors.
Have a look at the etec 50 and compare it with the 4 strokes before you buy. Myself and a few mates have made the change from 4 back to 2 and we have been amazed with the etecs.
When the wife said i could get a lab i think she meant a dog.
LABSPORT XT 200H.O. etec
Speaking of ETEC'S I was looking at the specs of the 40hp vs 50hp and their identical, even the weight ???. #
The only difference is the RPM range. The 50hp reving 500RPM more than the 40hp.
Don't know whether paying an extra $1500 or so for the 50hp is worth it ??? #Sounds like the 40hp is a detuned 50hp?
I was also looking at the weight of the ETEC's against other makes and they seem to weight more than the others. Up to 25kg more in some instances. #
I was thinking about getting a pair for my cat - but if 2 of them equal an extra 50kg im not sure ???
Almost as bad as having the weight of another person in your boat
They sound very efficient ,reliable & tuff motors though
