sorry about this - but how do you earth a sounder on a glass boat?

Try the negative on the battery.

yeh, we thought about that - but if the sounder is already connected to the negative, it didn't seem to serve a purpose. Just electrically challenged I guess.

G'day Tony,I doubt that your Furuno will need it but if it does try mounting a "ground plate" to your transom,the ground plate should be made of metal and be approx 12in x 12in square and be in contact with the water,then run a wire from it to the grounding screw on the back of your sounder.I would see how it goes before doing this,mine runs perfectly without one,I don't think anyone else uses one but I'm not sure.

We thougth we could probably run it without earthing it and see how it went. As far as I could work out it is just to reduce interference, not for any safety reasons or for the integrity of the sounder.
