Matrix Sounder GPS Problem
Hi all,
# Went for a run in the boat today and found out the bird is playing up.It keeps reading between 700 & 800ft when water is only 18 to 23ft there is no picture just clutter, the GPS works fine. I have checked everything from connections to transducer and all seems ok. Has anyone else had a problem like this.
When the wife said i could get a lab i think she meant a dog.

Re: Matrix Sounder GPS Problem
I gave my Matrix 37 (with GPS) it's first run last Sunday/Monday. At speed, the depth function shows much like you describe, but once slowed down (didn't take notice of the speed I slowed to) the depth function works fine.
The troubleshooting pages in the manual suggest that is most likely due to the positioning of the transducer.
However, if you are getting that sort of reading at rest, then something else is likely to be wrong. In that case, you should contact the dealer you bought it off for advice.
Best I can do until I have more experience with the device.
BTW, the performance of the Matrix 37 (other than at speed) is extremely good in my opinion. With 640 vertical pixels the vertical resolution is fantastic. 320 horizontal pixels is pretty damn good too.

Big muddie,
The sounder has been working great for 5 months and only decided to start playing up today and without the boat moving.

Re: Matrix Sounder GPS Problem
mate give your pins a spray with Lanox or something similar....you'd be amazed what some salt water/air can do to them so a bit of cleaning lubricant works wonders......
if this fails then take it to the shop....
cheers

Re: Matrix Sounder GPS Problem
check the settings mate, mine did a fit the other day after uploading new gps marks to it, it seemed to of reset the matrix to factory settings so i had to make sure it was tuned back into saltwater, the noise filter was set to low and so on

Re: Matrix Sounder GPS Problem
Good info guys, we have a Matrix 20 and had similar issues but after a light spray on the pins with lanox / (elec cleaner) she was no probs at all!
Cheers, Greg.
